Presenters:

Prof. Thomas Pederson is associate professor at the IT University of Copenhagen (ITU) and a member of the Pervasive Interaction Technology Lab (http://itu.dk/pit/), having a research interest in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) and Pervasive/Ubiquitous Computing, specializing in Mobile Mixed-Reality Interaction that involves everyday objects as part of the computer system. Pederson has been a member of many program committees for conferences and journals (mainly ACM, IEEE, and Springer) and co-organized many conferences and workshops. Most recently he was co-general chair of NordiCHI 2012 at ITU in Copenhagen, and co-program chair for TEI'10 (Tangible, Embedded and Embodied Interaction) at MIT Media Lab, Boston, USA.

Petri Luomala
works as Service Designer at OP Pohjola, where he develops mobile banking services. Prior to this, he worked at Nokia creating future consumer experiences and UI for Symbian smartphones. His professional interests include psychology and how every day routines affect on product and service design.


Ahmed Farooq
has done his MSc in Haptic UIs and now is working on his PhD research designing new techniques in implementing Haptic UIs. He has 8 years of software development testing experience, with more than 5 years of designing and developing haptic devices. His current research involves developing multimodal systems to enhance haptic feedback in IVI systems. His interests involve studying hapticons in pneumatic haptic devices with respect to ambient noise and deploying these devices in a multitude of environments like in ATMs and Kiosks, especially targeting users with disabilities. At the moment he is working as a researcher at TAUCHI, University of Tampere, focusing on the HapticAudio project.


Jouni Linkola
 is a service designer with a wide expertise in creative and user centered design methods. His typical task is to identify business drivers and users’ needs and cope them with technological possibilities. He has attended in digital service projects as a designer or a manager from 1994 and works now in Tieto. Linkola has studied cultural anthropology but made his MA thesis in new media. He has research interests on shared practices and innovativeness of local communities. Jouni prepares his PhD on information management related to everyday practices like consuming.
