The Master's Thesis competition of 2021 is open!

The competition is meant for any Master level thesis related to human-computer interaction (HCI) that has been accepted (with grade 4 or 5 / M, E or L) between June 1st 2020 and May 31st 2021 by a Finnish university or university of applied sciences. The thesis can be in Finnish, Swedish, or English.

The thesis can be about, for example:

• user interfaces and interaction techniques for human-computer interaction
• user and usability research, requirements engineering, or user-centered design
• user experience

The research approach and methodology are not limited, so it can be about experimental research, user studies, or theoretical inspection, as well as design, prototyping, development, or evaluation of HCI artefacts.

The author of the awarded thesis will receive a 1000€ scholarship sponsored by Suomen teknisen viestinnän yhdistys. The decision is made by a panel of experts selected by the board of SIGCHI Finland, consisting of both the academics and practitioners of HCI. Each proposal will be reviewed at least by two panelists. While reviewing, the panelists will consider the original grade of the thesis together with the significance of the results from the panelist’s (SIGCHI interests) point of view as well as the clarity of reporting.

To participate, please send the thesis together with the assessment statement (including the grade) as one PDF file. The thesis can be submitted either by the author, or by the supervisor with a permission from the author.
